The land is leased instead of bought outright, which cuts out the single biggest cost of traditional homeownership. For buyers who don't need to own the dirt, that's a real path to ownership at prices most mortgages can't touch.

The biggest difference: you own the home itself, so every payment builds equity instead of disappearing. When you sell or move, you can take that value with you — renters can't. The lot lease covers the land beneath you (similar to a condo HOA fee), but the home is titled in your name.
